Unfinished Agenda for Law Schools in Nurturing a Commitment to Pro Bono Legal Services By Law Students

Abstract

The vision of equal access to justice is far from realized in society today. Although Legal Services Corporation ("LSC") funded programs closed nearly one million cases in 2002, many otherwise financially eligible individuals and groups were denied access to any legal services. Professor Spain proposes to close this gap in services with the encouraging involvement of law schools in the pro bono process. He then explains the different roles that a law school can play in this most vital of services.
