Title: Banking Law
Author: Pawlowic, Dean G.
Abstract: All was relatively quiet on the banking front for the Fifth Circuit during the survey period. The court did decide two significant cases permitting de facto interstate branching for banks whose main offices are located within thirty miles of a state line, but because of legislative developments, these decisions have limited application. Fallout from the bank failures of the 1980s continues, and several opinions addressed concerns relating to that topic. The few other banking-related decisions from the survey period are also included.
