Copyright Issues in the Use of Multimedia Technology in Museum Communications

Abstract

Professor Phelan discusses a new threat to museums of persons on the internet who can copy images of artwork from web pages and distort them in any manner and print their finished product. Phelan addresses the issue of whether images of art are copyrightable and then discusses how copyright law can be adapted to the age of the internet.
